Shaping the Future of Inclusive AI
Shaping the Future of Inclusive AI
Equity Quotient was born in June 2021 out of a passion to overcome the risk of racial and gender bias in Artificial Intelligence (AI) models and the adverse impact they can create. What started as an idea over two years ago, has evolved into a necessary voice for integrity across the existential question of what is the role of AI in society, especially in the wake of the new Executive Order on Safe, Secure, and Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence released on October 30, 2023.
Included here is a framework that profiles key components of the Executive Order and how Equity Quotient can support an organization’s journey to achieving three primary objectives through AI-powered innovation:

Equity Quotient Summary & Response
Initiative 1
Safety Testing with Transparency on Results
Organization Responsibilities
Provide clarity on data, technology used in various AI-powered platforms, approaches used for testing, and transparent results of testing (i.e., biased outputs and risk mitigation put in place)

Initiative 2
Protecting Americans’ Privacy
Organization Responsibilities
Ensure responsible use of personally identifiable information (PII) while leveraging robust data to drive system efficacy.
Equity Quotient Platform Support
Equity Quotient’s team is well-versed in technology compliance mandates related to the use of PII. Our platform has been developed in a way that is focused on protecting privacy, and we will continue to be committed to this as a core value in everything we do.
Initiative 3
Advancing Equity & Civil Rights
Organization Responsibilities
Creating systems that help address the widening disparities in our socioeconomic and public health landscape
Equity Quotient Platform Support
Equity Quotient’s solution is a stakeholder intelligence platform with a mission to achieve inclusive AI. Our singular focus is on leveraging the power of big data, advanced analytics, and the latest AI-powered technologies to create a more open, equitable, and just socioeconomic ecosystem. We do that by helping organizations gain easy, cost-effective access to these capabilities to measure and manage their stakeholder impact, achieve compliance mandates, and discover opportunities to achieve sustainable growth, or the intersection of performance and impact.
Initiative 4
Standing Up for Consumers, Patients & Students
Organization Responsibilities
Advance responsible use of AI in HEALTHCARE, the development of affordable, life-saving drugs. Shape AI’s potential to transform education to create resources that support educators using AI-enabled tools.
Equity Quotient Platform Support
As part of Equity Quotient’s SaaS solution platform, our first industry solution is focused on Healthcare, particularly Health Equity imperatives. Our Health Equity Reporting solution is focused on helping providers (hospitals and health systems) achieve Health Equity compliance mandates through rich data profiling the socioeconomic and public health landscape of every region across the U.S. Building on this rich data platform, Equity Quotient for Healthcare has layered in advanced statistical modeling and data visualizations as well as our full-stack AI engine, Rosa (named for Rosa Parks) intentionally trained on our data platform, proprietary thought leadership content, and relevant external content, such as historical Community Health Needs Assessments (CHNAs).
Initiative 5
Supporting Workers
Organization Responsibilities
Mitigate risks of job displacement, surveillance, and other adverse impacts by investing in workforce training and development that is accessible to all. Best practices to mitigate the harms and maximize the benefits of AI for workers, avoid under-compensating workers, and evaluate job applications unfairly.
Equity Quotient Platform Support
Equity Quotient’s SaaS solution platform features multiple dashboards–Business Landscape, Workforce Diversity, Supplier Diversity, and others. These dashboards make it possible for organizations to gain easy and cost-effective access to relevant information by region on the economic and employment landscape–e.g., median income by industry, sector growth rates and GDP contribution, available jobs vs. workers, and unemployment gaps. This information can help focus community and economic development, guide programs dedicated to workforce diversity and development, and more. Furthermore, the technology platform can be used to evaluate the output of AI-based systems that have a risk of adverse stakeholder impact, such as talent acquisition and resume review systems, to ensure they are avoiding biased outcomes (e.g., hiring funnel metrics, compensation decisions).
Initiative 6
Promoting Innovation & Competition
Organization Responsibilities
Catalyze AI research across the US. Promote a fair, open, and competitive AI ecosystem. Expand the ability of highly skilled immigrants and nonimmigrants with expertise in critical areas to study, stay, and work in the US.
Equity Quotient Platform Support
Equity Quotient’s team includes a diverse group of talent, including first-generation immigrants who are leading Product Development and talent based outside the U.S. who are contributing meaningfully to the buildout and maintenance of the solution. It is through this diverse combination of skills that Equity Quotient has been possible, and we will continue to be intentional with our hiring to further this approach and the positive outcomes that it achieves related to enabling exceptional technology talent to live and work in the U.S.
Initiative 7
Advanced American Leadership Abroad
Organization Responsibilities
Expand bilateral, multilateral, and multi-stakeholder engagements to collaborate on AI. Accelerate development and implementation of vital AI standards.
Promote safe, responsible deployment of AI abroad to solve global challenges (Sustainable development, critical infrastructure).
Equity Quotient Platform Support
Again, Equity Quotient’s team includes a diverse combination of U.S. citizens, first-generation immigrants, and international talent located in other countries collaborating on building out our AI-powered stakeholder intelligence platform. As we expand the solution and grow the team and our market reach, we will play an important role in contributing to America’s leadership in this important realm, particularly as it relates to helping global organizations achieve Inclusive AI systems and understand stakeholder impact more effectively as part of achieving more sustainable growth.
Initiative 8
Ensuring Responsible & Effective Government Use of AI
Organization Responsibilities
Issue guidance for agencies’ use of AI (standards for rights/safety, AI procurement, deployment). Help agencies acquire specific AI products and services (faster, more cheaply, and effectively through more efficient contracting). Accelerate the rapid hiring of AI professionals as part of a government-wide talent surge (US Digital Service, US Digital Corp, Presidential Innovation Fellowship).
Equity Quotient Platform Support
Equity Quotient has leveraged Data.gov extensively to achieve its rich AI-powered stakeholder intelligence platform. We have brought together dozens of socioeconomic and public health data sources into an integrated platform with highly curated AI-powered analytics and insights to help make it easier for organizations across the private, public, and non-profit sectors to achieve responsible AI, or the intersection of rapid innovation to remain competitive and risk mitigation related to adverse stakeholder impact. Our goal is to provide access to all levels of government where our solution platform can be helpful in advancing objectives related to driving responsible AI innovation in a way that is accessible, impactful, and cost effective.
